Our name
Why Kinsu?
Our name comes from kintsugi, the art of mending broken pottery with gold.
In kintsugi, the cracks aren't hidden — they're filled with gold, so the repaired piece is stronger
than before. We believe recovery works the same way. Struggling with addiction is nothing to be
ashamed of, and the path forward can make you stronger.
“To deliver compassionate, effective care for people battling addiction, combining medical
support, therapy and community integration so each client can reach a lasting recovery.”
Our mission
Our values: compassion, empathy, unconditional acceptance, and the belief that every
person is doing their best to move forward.
Our care
Medically supervised detox
Detox lets your body clear alcohol or drugs while withdrawal symptoms are safely managed. Here's the care we provide.

From alcohol, opioids, methamphetamine and other substances.
Medication-assisted treatment
Such as buprenorphine, methadone or naltrexone, as clinically appropriate.
Counselling & group support
Individual counselling and group support during your stay.
Private suites
With private bathrooms, for rest and dignity.
Culturally safe care
With support from an Elder / Knowledge Keeper.
24/7 pick-up
Pick-up and transportation, so getting here isn't a barrier.
Aftercare planning
Referrals to residential treatment, outpatient programs and housing.
Your stay
What to expect
Every person's experience is different. A typical stay is around 5 days — shorter for alcohol, up to about 14 days for some drugs — and your doctor decides the length of your stay.
01
Same-day screening & admission
We start with a conversation and a same-day health screening, so your care team understands your health and needs. We'll pick you up if you need a ride.
02
Supervised detox
A nurse is on every shift and care is available 24/7. Withdrawal symptoms are monitored and managed, with medication when clinically appropriate, plus counselling and group support.
03
Aftercare plan
Before you leave, we build a plan together — with referrals to residential treatment, outpatient programs and housing, or a direct path into our own outpatient program.
04
Outpatient program
Our 8-week program includes two individual counselling sessions and one group session each week — a direct next step after detox, and also open to people who don't need detox.
Reaching out
The first step, made easier
Reaching out takes courage. We want the first step to feel safe and simple.
No referral needed
You can contact us directly, for yourself or for someone you love.
Same-day admission
When you're ready, waiting shouldn't stand in the way. Screening and admission can happen the same day.
Pick-up, 24/7
We offer pick-up and transportation around the clock, so getting here isn't a barrier.
A direct path to outpatient care
Detox is a first step. You can move straight into our outpatient program when you leave.
Fees & funding
Cost shouldn't stop you from reaching out
Care can be funded through self-pay, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), First Nations Band health funding, or CFS. Contact us for fees and funding options — we'll walk you through them before admission.

Yes. Many people reach out first for someone they love. We can talk about how detox works, what the next steps look like, and how to approach the conversation. The person seeking care will need to be part of the admission decision.

Withdrawal from some substances — including alcohol — can be dangerous without medical supervision. A supervised setting means symptoms are monitored and treated as they happen, around the clock.
Care can be funded through self-pay (individuals and families), Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), First Nations Band health funding, or Child and Family Services (CFS). Contact us for fees and funding options — we'll walk you through them before admission.
Detox is a first step, not the whole journey. Before you leave, we work with you on an aftercare plan, with referrals to residential treatment, outpatient programs and housing — including a direct path into our own 8-week outpatient program.
